The recipe for eggs in tomato sauce is believed to have been first used by residents of North African countries. Later, this recipe spread to the East and became especially popular in Israel, where it is called Shakshuka.
There are many different shakshuka recipes. To prepare the original shakshuka, you need many different spices, which you probably won't find in every grocery store.
So we decided to simplify this recipe a little and apply it to everyone who wants to make especially tasty eggs in tomato sauce, and to buy the necessary products for this dish at any grocery store.
So, make shakshuka according to our recipe easily, simply and quickly.
How to make eggs in tomato sauce at home?
Take a small white onion, peel it and wash it. Cut the onion in half and place on a cutting board. Cut the onion into small cubes.
Take two medium-sized cloves of garlic and peel them. Place the garlic cloves on a cutting board and cut into small slices.
Take a medium-sized frying pan and place it on a medium-hot hob. Add 5 tablespoons of olive oil to the pan.
When the oil is hot, add the chopped onions and garlic to the pan. Saute the onions and garlic until soft.
While the onions and garlic are frying in the pan, take two medium-sized tomatoes, wash them and place them on a cutting board. Cut the tomatoes into small cubes and add them to the pan with the onions and garlic. Mix the tomatoes with the onions and garlic in a pan and leave to simmer over medium heat.

Meanwhile, while the tomatoes are simmering in the pan, take a small red pepper. Wash the pepper and place it on a cutting board. We will need 1/2 of a pepper, so cut off half of the pepper and cut it into small cubes. Add the red pepper cubes to the pan, mix with the tomatoes, onions and garlic and let everything simmer for a few more minutes.

While the ingredients are simmering in the pan, take a few sprigs of parsley and finely chop them on a cutting board. Put the chopped parsley aside, we will use it later.
Add some freshly ground black pepper and a pinch of salt to the pan with the tomatoes and paprika. Mix the spices well with the other products in the pan.

Beat the 4 eggs on top of the other ingredients in the pan. Cover the pan with a lid and let it cook for 4-5 minutes until the eggs are cooked.

After 5 minutes, remove the lid from the pan. Add a handful of grated cheese to the pan, over the eggs and other ingredients. Parmesan cheese or fermented cheese works best. Cover the pan with a lid and fry for another 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts.

Remove the lid from the pan and add some more freshly ground black pepper and salt to the pan.
Remove the pan from the stove and place it on a table with a non-stick tray.
Sprinkle the chopped parsley on top and enjoy!
